Bob McGinn Football & Casino gaming

BOB McGINN writes about the Green Bay Packers, the NFL and the NFL draft, casino gaming, poker, and overall content direction.

As a beat writer, BOB McGINN has covered the Packers for 40 years. At the Green Bay Press-Gazette, he was part-time on the beat from 1979-’83 and full-time from 1984-’91. At The Milwaukee Journal, he had the beat from 1991-95. Following a merger in April 1995, he remained on the beat at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from 1995 until his decision to leave the newspaper in May 2017.

Bonus Info: What’s Happened So Far

The term casino bonus may not be the first thing that comes to mind about Bob, not necessarily the second. Bob does not emphasise in his texts the benefits that online casinos share, but there has been a lot of talk about them over the years. The various articles on casino gambling have almost always – in one way or another – included bonuses. This is not surprising, as these bonuses have allowed Bob himself to get to know gambling without the risk of losing his own money. He recommends the same to other players in his publications.

But the most important thing about the publications is how they deal with the game itself. It is an interesting and multi-dimensional subject, and it is no wonder that gambling is a recurring theme in Bob’s work. Let’s see what else he has already done in his career.

From 1984 To 2016

From 1984 through 2016, he covered every exhibition, regular season, and playoff game played by the Packers, maintaining files of his own statistical breakdowns of each season. Also, Bob has covered 32 of the last 35 Super Bowls.

As the 2011 winner of the Dick McCann Award, McGinn became a member of the writer’s wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. The McCann has been awarded annually since 1969 to an individual for long and distinguished reporting on pro football; the other winner from Wisconsin was the Press-Gazette’s Art Daley in 1977.

He is an inductee of the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame (2008); a member of the Knights of the Golden Quill (2016), the Milwaukee Press Club’s major lifetime journalistic achievement award; and a six-time sportswriter of the year in Wisconsin.

McGinn, a native of Escanaba, Mich., graduated from Escanaba Holy Name High School in 1970, where he won eight letters (football, basketball, track) and also played American Legion baseball in the summer. He spent four years at the University of Michigan, graduating in 1974 with dual majors in journalism and political science.

He broke into the business covering Bo Schembechler’s teams as a student for The Michigan Daily. He spent one year at The Delta Reporter in Michigan before beginning a 15-year run at the Press-Gazette.

He is the author of The Ultimate Super Bowl Book, a definitive look at strategy and why the games were won. The first edition was published in 2009, the second edition in 2012.

Aside from winning many writing awards, McGinn has received attention for his position-by-position NFL draft series that he has researched and written for the last 33 years. He finished first in the country for three consecutive years (2011, ’12, ’13) in The Huddle Report’s top-100 draft board competition.
